Functional Medicine is a personalised, systems-based approach that views your body as an interconnected whole. Unlike conventional healthcare, which often focuses on diagnosing conditions and treating symptoms with medications, Functional Medicine investigates upstream causes to understand why a problem is occurring.


Through nutrition, lifestyle, stress management, and targeted supplementation — alongside medication when required — Functional Medicine aims to restore balance and optimise function before disease develops, using evidence-based interventions.

 

MY TRAINING AND CLINICAL FOUNDATION

As a Functional Nutritionist, I utilise the principles of Functional Medicine to support your health. I carefully review your personal health history, family health patterns, lab results, previous tests, and symptoms, bringing this information together to map your body’s systems and identify patterns of imbalance. Based on this analysis, I can clinically determine what may be out of balance, why it may be happening, and the most appropriate steps to support improvement.
 

My work is grounded in advanced training in Integrative Functional Nutrition through the Institute for Optimal Nutrition (ION), completion of the Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice (AFMCP™) programme with the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), and certification in Metabolic Balance®.
 

I use a systems-based, client-centred model that considers the dynamic relationship between genetics, biology, lifestyle, stress, and environmental influences. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, I help you explore how and why imbalance may have developed, and what your body needs to return to optimal function.

My approach is grounded in current research and clinical evidence, applied in a practical and individualised way.

This is not a one-size-fits-all plan or a quick fix. When working with you, I look for patterns rather than isolated symptoms, explore your full health timeline and life context, and seek to identify root drivers rather than simply suppress symptoms. The focus is on restoring function and building long-term resilience through strategies that are realistic, sustainable, and tailored specifically to you.
 

All interventions are tailored to your unique physiology. Functional Medicine may include additional functional tests or clinically relevant genetic insights, such as SNPs, to guide the approach or confirm findings where appropriate. The goal is not to run unnecessary tests or recommend supplements without purpose, but to develop a clear understanding of your system and implement precise, personalised, evidence-informed strategies to optimise function.

We begin with a comprehensive health review, exploring your medical history, symptoms, nutrition, lifestyle, stress levels, and goals to build a complete picture of your health. Together, we identify the key areas to address initially and create a personalised nutrition and lifestyle plan tailored to your unique biology and circumstances, with support designed to evolve and naturally resolve as your health improves.

Over time, functional testing may be used where appropriate to gain deeper insights into nutritional deficiencies, metabolic imbalances, gut dysfunction, or other underlying drivers. Your plan adapts as your body responds, with thoughtful adjustments to support sustainable progress and lasting restoration of balance and function.
